Just Advocacy Week brings together a diverse group of emerging leaders from across the country who are committed to justice and dedicated to dismantling systems of oppression. JAW participants will experience the D.C. policy world, examine wealth and income inequality, and hear from experienced social justice advocates on how faith can inspire action for social and economic transformation. The week will prepare JAW participants to lobby their elected officials in Congress on their last day in Washington D.C.

Through workshops and peer collaboration, JAW participants gain the skills to educate, organize, and lobby for social justice. When the week is over, JAW participants will take what they’ve learned to plan and lead a post-JAW project to advance social justice within their own communities.

Just Advocacy Week showed me how accessible government can be, despite my previous beliefs to the contrary. The most dramatic example of this was the opportunity to speak with my government representatives to promote the Earned Income and Child Tax Credits.Jalen Brooks-Knepfle, JAW 2015
