Senator Landrieu Writes about the Wealth Gap

Aug 09, 2011 | By Stephanie Niedringhaus

We were honored when Louisiana Senator Mary L. Landrieu agreed to write an article for us about what was happening on the Gulf Coast and how wealth disparities there were presenting some unique challenges.

The post-Katrina rebuilding efforts in her state have run into challenges in some of the poorer neighborhoods, and racial disparities have been part of the problem. As the Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, she has committed herself to identifying strategies and actions that can help eliminate the wealth gap. Sen. Landrieu

Everything she said is true, but she and her family are rather "well heeled" themselves. I would also refer you to former New Orleans Archbishop Philip M. Hannan in regards to support for Sen. Landrieu.

Sen. Mary Landrieu's article on the huge financialgap between whites and minorities is alarming. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
