Jul 12, 2011 | By Page May

We all can appreciate that tax policy is complicated. Here at NETWORK, we must constantly re-evaluate and relect on our stance. Moving forward requires new ideas and hearing from multiple perspectives- So we'd like to hear from you!

What do you think? Below are some guiding questions that we’d love to hear your own thoughts on. Please take some time to reflect on these, and post your responses in the comment section.

Fair Tax Policy

Taxes need to be simplified. A fair percentage should be set for each level of income with NO deductions. The same should apply to corporations but with higher percentages for the largest companies.

My words on taxes.

Let me start by saying I consider myself a Jesus liberal. When I read the New testament in the Holy Bible, I am in awe of Jesus' liberalism. He did not ask people for their health care card before He would serve them. He displayed true love and mercy for all His children.
I believe that whatever I have is a gift from God. I should not hoard my gift but the gift should be shared with all of God's children. When you do it for the least of my brethren, you do it for me.
Taxes need to be a shared sacrifice for every person. The needs to be a graduated tax formula. Here is my formula -uhder $100,000 (15%), under $250,000 (30%), under $500.000 (50%), under $1,000,000 (70%), under $2,000,000 (75%), under $3,000,000 (80%), over $3,000,000 (85%), and the removal of all tax loopholes. Off shore tax shelters must be considered a treasonous act against the United States ans her citizens!!! My tax proposal is too idealistic and so it will never come to fruition.

New two part tax for individuals and corporations.

a new tax code with two sections for each payer
A. Freedom Tax: all pay a uniform rate (exc under $20,000 per annum)   all individuals pay  10% of total income.  NO Deductions. all coorporations or companies pay 15% of total income  from anywhere. paid yearly with no exceptions
B. Responsibility Tax:  all pay according to  levels of income and with deductions, which are limited to Freedom Tax (above) plus limited number of deductions to a total of seventy-five percent of total income.(rates for B section: 10% for 25-75M; 15% for 75-250M; 20%for over 250M.)

The wealthy people should be

The wealthy people should be paying a lot in taxes instead of none that the republicans fixed for them. They cause all the problems of the world and should pay more restitution.

Taxes

A just and fair tax policy is based on a just distribution of the tax on the wealthy of this country, including industry of all kinds and a safeguard on protecting the middle class. A substiantial cut on the melitary/war industry.

The government need money to provide for the following needs of the people: Education; Health care; Environmental protection; Social Security; Medicare; and all the others need called for by the common good of all.

A just and fair tax policy is based on a just distribution of the tax assumed by the wealthy, big busnesses including oil and gas, and other corporate industries in the country including the military/war industry. The tax burden should not be placed on the middle class and or the poor.

Tax Breaks For Job Creators?

The politicians who want to keep the tax breaks for the very wealthy say that they are the people who create jobs. So what if they close the loopholes, but give tax incentives for those wealthy when they actually create these jobs.

Just and Fair Tax Policy

I believe everyone in the country who is working is paying for Social Security and Medicare - therefore I have no problem with the fact that they pay no federal income taxes. I do have a problem with the fact that the poor can attain the same lifestyle as a family of four working to earn $60,000 anually through the various programs available to them. It seems that it would be fair to simplify all tax programs to the flat tax (on consumption) or the fair tax (a certain percentage applicable to all) without any of the complex tax codes... whereby even the average American needs to pay an accountant to figure out their taxes. For the poor, after they have paid their equal share of taxes, they should be eligible for a payment to assure they remain above the poverty level but not at a higher level than they would attain working.
